What are Minor's Bases?
Minor's Bases are stock concentrates of freshly cooked Meat, Poultry, Seafood and Vegetables.
Why is a Minor's Base essential to good cooking?
A Minor's Base significantly enriches menu items with natural flavor of freshly cooked meat, poultry, seafood or vegetables
How are Minor's Bases manufactured so they add fresher, more natural flavor?
We start with premium high quality meat, poultry, seafood and vegetables that are freshly cooked just prior to processing in our State-of-the-Art USDA inspected facility. We use technically advanced specially customized equipment to capture and retain the entire fresh flavor expected from premium bases. Minor's Bases are closely monitored during each phase of the manufacturing process to assure consistent quality results.
How much meat is in Minor's Bases?
The name of the product is always the primary ingredient. The exact amount is proprietary information.
Are Minor's Bases considered "Natural"?
Yes. Minor's Bases do not contain any artificial flavors, colors or chemicals preservatives. All ingredients are naturally derived and include: freshly cooked meat, poultry, seafood and vegetables, natural spices, spice extracts and flavorings derived from vegetables and herbs.
What are the differences between stock made from Minor's Bases and Canned Broths?
Stock made from Minor's Bases have a superior natural flavor and adds the taste of freshly cooked meat, poultry, seafood and vegetable. They are usually lower in sodium content than canned broth and about 50-60% less expensive.
Why do you put salt in Minor's Meat, Poultry, Seafood and Vegetables?
We use the minimal amount of salt necessary for preservation and flavoring. The amount varies from product to product.
How can I use Minor's Bases with my existing recipes?
For fresher flavor during and after cooking, omit salt from your recipe and add Minor's Bases. To replace the salt, add 1 to 2 times the amount of salt called for in the recipe with the Minor's Base of choice.
Where can I get more recipes for Minor's products?
All of our recipe booklets can be found under the "Recipes" tab at the top of this page. More recipes and other recipe sources are also listed there.

No. Minor's Bases blend readily with other ingredients such as sour cream, mayonnaise or salad dressings, beaten eggs, vegetables oil or melted fat, water and other liquids.
Can I reduce sodium in my cooking by using Minor's Meat, Poultry, Seafood and Vegetable Bases?
Yes. By replacing the salt in your recipe with 2 parts of Minor's Base, the sodium, in your recipe can be reduced by 20%, along with retaining the same level of natural flavor enhancement. Minor's also carries a line of " Low Sodium Bases".
Why Does the Minor's label indicate "Refrigerate for Optimum Flavor?"
We recommend refrigeration to preserve the " fresh cooked " flavor quality of each Base.
What are the MSG levels of stocks made from Minor's Bases?
MSG levels are less than 0.5% for each Minor's Base made according to label directions. Minor's also offers a full line of " No Added MSG" Bases.
How long will Minor's Meat, Poultry, Seafood and Vegetable Bases stay fresh under refrigeration?
We suggest using Minor's Bases at their peak quality. Most Minors' Bases are the best when used within one year. Seafood Bases are best when used within nine months.
What steps are taken to ensure product integrity?
We "seal in freshness" by using a USDA-approved aluminum foil lid that is machine applied, heat sealed and covered with a plastic cap for every 1 lb. cup of Minor's Base. The finished product is stored refrigerated.
What if the product is not refrigerated? Should I throw it away?
Minor's Bases should remain refrigerated to retain optimum quality and freshness. Should a Base be left out at room temperature, the Base will not become harmful, however, when left un-refrigerated over a long period of time, there may be a loss in the intensity of the flavor.
What do we mean by " No Added MSG"?
Minor's No Added MSG products contain no added MSG other than that, which naturally occurs in protein sources. We do not add MSG as an ingredient, but MSG may be present from ingredients where glutamate is naturally occurring, such as in hydrolyzed vegetable proteins and autolyzed yeast extracts.
What is Minor's position on MSG?
Minor's neither encourages nor discourages the use of MSG. In response to customer needs, we provide products with MSG as well as those with No Added MSG to satisfy our customers' preference.
What products are considered "Gluten Free"?
We consider a product as gluten-free if it contains no wheat, rye, oats, or barley. There are many products we have listed in a gluten free category or sub-category. But, there are many, many others that are gluten free, too. Always be sure to check the ingredients list on the individual product page to be sure the item is safe for your system requirements.
Product Ingredient and Nutritional Listings...
We try our best to keep all of the ingredients lists and nutritional listings as up to date as possible. Manufacturers are changing labels, tweaking product ingredients, and changing nutritional values on a frequent basis. Since we do not get notified of these changes, we have to check every now and then to see if everything is current.
