Mix tapioca, milk and salt in 2 quart pan on medium high heat. Stir always and simmer 5 minutes, adding sugar gradually. Beat eggs and mix in hot tapioca very slowly to equalize temperature. Mix eggs into tapioca bringing to a simmering boil for 3 minutes or more to thicken, stirring always. Cool 15 minutes. Add vanilla and any optional flavors.
